- My name is Dave. I have things to say. I know not where I am going, only where I have been. When I get there, I'll be sure to let you know. If we meet along the way, let's do something.

The Week Ends...
It was only a week ago that our debut album was released at the Rough Trade store in east London. Seven days later and i've been to Austin and back to play the South by South West festival. There are no words i can put together right now to try and describe the experience i had, but i have condensed my trip into a short video...

The Good The Bad and The Radio...
A mixed bag of nuts today. United got stuffed at Old Trafford by Liverpool to bring a disappointing end to a very good week, but the mood has improved since, as it appears Hatcham Social are one of Joe Cornish's favourite band, even playing Jabberwocky at the end of their 6Music show this morning. Although it appears i say the wrong word in the last verse. I must have written it down wrong when we recorded it. Sorry Lewis Carroll.
So, to video number two. Here it is. I've used a fantastic little remix by our Italian friend / dj / booking agent Guido Savini over the top, he spliced together our track Berlin and 99 Problems by Jay Z. A Dave's Eye View - 24 Hours In Berlin:

A Dave's Eye View...
In a shocking development, i joined Twitter this week. I didn't want to, but felt i was missing out on a huge amount of irrelevant information. I'm not sure my life will be any better for it, but there's no going back now. And the internet being the wonder that it is, my twittering / tweeting / twattery is now imbedded into this very blog, so, just to the right hand side of this post you shall find my twittering / tweeting / twattery.
In other news, i shall now be leaving more visual examples of the world around me, using the fantastic Flip Video my dad bought me last year. Starting with my first attempt at video cutting / editing / destroying using the oh-so-simple Windows Movie Maker, i have created a short film of my day at the historic BBC Maida Vale studio last monday (recording a live Hatcham Social session for Radio 1). I've even used one of our tracks over the top. Clever me. Here it is in all its tiny glory...
I shall now be starting on a similar video of my recent trip to Berlin, and showing off dramatically next week when my updates will be coming from, yes, Austin, Texas. America thought they had it good voting Obama into power, well now Hatcham Social are hitting their shores. Or Deserts. Hell, even this guy sounds excited...

Lost in the Woods...
it's mid November, it's getting late, and it's already dark.
we move forward, inch by inch, nearer to the police road block. there are dozens of Gendarmes, strolling around with pistols in pockets.
the car in front has 3 officers talking to the driver, one with an industrial torch shining through the window. they look up, they see us, they urge us forward. will they, won't they? their beady eyes stare us up and down. they wave us straight through and it appears they're not interested as we drive on into the town.
the Sat Nav tells us where to go. ahead, turn right, then left.
straight into another road block. again, we move forward. inch by inch. again, their beady eyes stare us up and down. and again, we get waved straight through. they're not looking for a van load of 'ze Engleesh' then.
as we get out of the town, apparently nearing our hotel, civilisation seems to be disappearing. we find ourselves on a straight and narrow road, surrounded only by fields. then the fog sets in. it's just us and the road, and we're getting closer to the hotel. it feels like the opening scene to a horror film, the Sat Nav our only friend. turn left. turn right. straight ahead. we're nearing our destination. another left, down a dirt track, over a bridge only just wider than the van. we take a right. it's pitch black, our destination 50 yards to the right. except, to our right, is a lake. and just ahead of us a railway line. all we need now is a ghost train to roll past.
this can't be right. we turn around. we drive back up the way we came, take the next turning and come to a halt. it's as if we're the Allied Forces driving through a deserted French town. all shutters are closed. the mist coming in thick. a church bell rings and a man with a dog stares at us from across the square...
where the hell are we?

Having done a lot of travelling recently, and spent many an hour with headphones in ear, i thought i’d have a look at some of my most popular songs using the ‘play count’ and ‘last played’ facility on my i-tunes. Devils Haircut – Beck (1996)
Downtown – Petula Clark (1964)
Ivy Ivy Ivy – Primal Scream (1989)
Grounds For Divorce – Elbow (2008)

Lovebuzz – Nirvana (1988)
Emily Kane – Art Brut (2005)
Monkeys - Echo and the Bunnymen (1980)
