New goal...

Ok, I've had a brainwave. When I ran my 5K for sport relief in march, my final goal was to raise £500, and I eventually raised an amazing £441.96. This fell just 58 pounds and 4 pence short of my target. So, I have slightly amended my Bikeathon aim. Instead of £50, I have now set it to £58.04. Should I reach this total, it means in total I will have reached my goal of £500. So, many thanks to everyone who has so far kindly donated (Alison, Stef, Eliza, Tom, Adam, Dan, Alexandra, Eliot, Mark, Vanessa & Lindsey), I am now just £18.04 short of my final goal. I shall be donating the equivalent of any money saved by cycling instead of taking public transport this week.

Two Wheels, Two Pounds...

OK people, so three months ago you helped me to raise a whopping £441.96 for Sport Relief, as I ran 5k along the Embankment by the River Thames using my two legs. Now it's the turn of two wheels. And this is my plan; to raise £50, through small donations. So, I need 25 people to donate TWO pounds each. The money goes to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, and I will be cycling 13 miles from the Chelsea Royal Hospital to Thames Barrier Park (26 miles if I cycle back!) next Sunday, June 27th. I've been training hard, and am now very fit (see picture above).

So, drink one less pint this week. Or, smoke a few less cigarettes. Or, walk one journey instead of a bus or tube. And donate TWO pounds to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Thank you people. Dave x x

A week is a long time in Optometrics...

Ever feel like you're having one of those weeks? I think I've just had one of those weeks. Last week I left Hatcham Social, for whom I played bass for 6 years. On Thursday I chipped a tooth, I now have a gaping hole in one of my molars. Then, having had strange fuzzy vision in my right eye all week, I went to Moorfields Eye Hospital on Friday, and got referred to go back this morning for a scan. On Saturday I went to the Blitz Party, which was amazing. But someone stood (or danced) on my foot which has now come up in a massive and painful bruise. This morning I was told I have Central Serous Retinopathy of the right eye, which is a build up of fluid at the back of the eye, leading to blurry vision. It can take one to six months to clear. Then I went to work, and jammed my finger between a chair and desk. Phew. Tomorrow, I am looking both ways, twice, before crossing any road...

And he walked on down the hall...

It is with great sadness that I have left Hatcham Social. I made my final decision this week having found out that the band played in Paris last week and have seemingly found a replacement for me. Anyway, what's done is done and I'm looking forward to finding a new challenge. There are many people I'd like to thank for what they have done during my time in the band, and I think you all know who you are. So thank you.

See you all somewhere.
